Same as for American Style painting, our basic course consists of six three-hour sessions. With European Style painting, we use “closed-medium” to mix the colours. This type of medium will dry after one or two minutes. You will be taught how to mix the paint with this type of medium to the right consistency and how to load the paint brushes. Round brushes are used.
With European Style painting, you have to concentrate and make sure that you know
strokes very well in order to obtain good results. After practicing with various strokes, you will then start to combine these strokes to form different flowers, e.g. asters, tulips, forget-me-nots and daffodils.

In addition, you will be taught how to do “grounding” (how to smooth colours onto the rim of plates or cups).
Upon completion of the basic course, you can go on to the intermediate and advanced courses in which you will be taught pen-work, more complicated flowers, sceneries, and monochrome. You may also learn how to apply gold.
European Style Porcelain Painting is taught by Jantarika Vakulchai.
